Noida : Residents of Noida Sector-105 have raised serious concerns over the poor security arrangements at the main drinking water supply centre (Water Works) located in the sector. The Residents Welfare Association (RWA) of Sector-105 has written to R. P. Singh, General Manager of the Water and Sewer Department of the Noida Authority, demanding immediate strengthening of security measures at the facility.

RWA President Divya Krishnatrayea (Deepak Sharma) stated in the letter that the Water Works supplies drinking water to nearly 15,000 residents living in Sector-105, Sector-108, HIG Flats, Judges Colony and Gejha village. Despite catering to such a large population, the facility reportedly lacks even basic security arrangements.

According to the RWA, the main gate of the Water Works remains open 24/7 and there are no security guards deployed at the site. This allows any unidentified outsider to easily enter the premises and access the overhead water tanks and underground reserve tanks. Residents fear that such negligence could lead to contamination of drinking water or the mixing of harmful substances, posing a serious threat to public health.

The concern among residents has intensified following a recent unpleasant incident related to the drinking water supply reported in Indore.

The absence of proper lighting inside the Water Works premises makes the situation even more alarming at night. The dark surroundings have also reportedly become a gathering point for anti-social elements.

Deepak Sharma, RWA President

The RWA has placed the following key demands before the Noida Authority:

• Deployment of 24×7 shift-wise security guards at the main gate of the Water Works.
• Installation of modern CCTV cameras across the entire premises.
• Proper lighting arrangements, including high-mast lights, to eliminate darkness inside the facility.

RWA President Divya Krishnatrayea (Deepak Sharma) warned that if immediate action is not taken by the authority, the concerned department would be held responsible for any untoward incident in the future. He urged the administration to take swift action in the public interest.
