Noida: The much-awaited city e-bus service in Gautam Buddh Nagar appears to be struggling to attract passengers, with questions raised about the absence of clearly defined routes, bus stops, and schedules. According to reports and concerns from commuters, e-buses have been operating in the district for about two and a half to three months, but information about their routes and timings is still not readily available to the general public. The issue has raised concerns over whether the city’s public transport system is being effectively managed.
Buses not following planned routes
Noida residents claims that the E-buses are not operating consistently on several routes that were announced for the service. As a result, passengers are reportedly being forced to depend on autos and other modes of transport. One of the routes mentioned includes connectivity between Sector 90 and Sector 137 Metro Station, along with stops such as Panchsheel Greens, Gaur City and other key locations in Greater Noida West. Residents have questioned why buses are not being operated regularly on routes where there is already considerable demand.
Passengers say buses often run empty
The situation at busy locations, including Sector 37 and Sector 52 Metro Station, saw commuters were seen waiting for public transport while e-buses were reportedly passing through without stopping consistently. Residents raise questions about the lack of proper monitoring of the service.
At Sector 37, a large number of commuters reportedly depend on public transport and autos. Despite the demand, passengers have complained that e-buses do not always stop when they need them, leaving commuters with little choice but to take autos.
No clear information on routes and timings
One of the biggest concerns for passengers is the lack of easily accessible information about bus routes, designated stops and operating timings. Without a reliable timetable, commuters cannot plan their journeys around the e-bus service. This also makes it difficult for regular users to shift from private vehicles and autos to public transport. The situation defeats one of the key purposes of introducing electric buses, providing an affordable, reliable and cleaner public transport alternative to residents.
Questions over public transport planning
A social media post highlighting the issue has also appealed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take cognisance of the situation and issue directions to strengthen the city bus service in Gautam Buddh Nagar.
The post tagged the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC), Noida Authority, Greater Noida Authority, Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration and the UP government, seeking intervention.
The concern is not simply about the availability of buses but whether the existing service is being properly planned and monitored.
Residents and commuters want authorities to clearly publish routes, designated bus stops, frequency and timings and ensure that buses operate according to the announced schedule.
For a rapidly growing urban region such as Gautam Buddh Nagar, a dependable public transport network is crucial. Unless these basic operational issues are addressed, commuters may continue to rely on autos and private vehicles even when electric buses are available on the roads.
