Noida : It is a matter of great pride and happiness for Gautam Buddh Nagar and the entire region that Mamta Kumari, a young hockey player from Morna, Sector-35 and associated with the Gautam Buddh Nagar Hockey Association, represented the Uttar Pradesh Hockey Team in the 16th Sub Junior National Women’s Hockey Championship held in Ranchi, Jharkhand. The Uttar Pradesh team delivered an impressive performance and secured fourth position in the tournament.
Mamta Kumari was selected for Veer Bahadur Singh Sports College, Gorakhpur, during the 2022-23 session. Coming from an extremely underprivileged background, her achievement stands as an inspiring example of determination, hard work and dedication. Mamta lost her father at a young age and her mother works in households as a domestic helper to support the family. Despite severe financial hardships, her mother continued to support her daughter’s dream and, with the assistance of the Gautam Buddh Nagar Hockey Association, helped her reach this level.
Mamta’s initial hockey coach, Dilip Kumar, also played a significant role in her journey. He identified her talent at an early stage and worked tirelessly to nurture and polish her skills through proper guidance and training.
On this occasion, Gautam Buddh Nagar Hockey Association General Secretary Sardar Manjeet Singh and Vice President Harendra Bhati honoured and encouraged Mamta Kumari, her mother and coach Dilip Kumar for their contribution and achievements. The association members stated that talents like Mamta are an inspiration for the district and the state and expressed confidence that she can achieve even greater success for the country in the future.
Mamta Kumari’s achievement has become a source of inspiration for young athletes across Gautam Buddh Nagar and the surrounding region.
