Noida : Residents of RG Residency Sector-120 came together to celebrate the 165th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore in a vibrant cultural evening organised by the Bongo Moitri Cultural Society Trust on May 17, 2026. The celebration reflected the richness of Bengali culture, music and heritage, creating a warm and festive atmosphere for residents and guests.

Cultural evening begins with an inaugural address

The programme commenced with an inaugural speech by the Chairman of the trust, followed by a soulful opening song presented by BMCST members. More than 35 residents actively participated in the event, showcasing their enthusiasm and dedication towards preserving Bengali traditions and literature. The event was also graced by noted social worker Dr. Munish Agarwal, who attended the celebration as a distinguished guest.

Members and guests were felicitated during the event

During the programme, the trust felicitated several prominent personalities for their contribution and support to social and cultural activities. Those honoured included Ved Prakash Arora, Ashok Bindhlesh, Pradeep Jaiswal, Hrishikesh Vabe, Avinash Arun and theatre personality Dr. Avijeet Banerjee.

Rabindra sangeet, dance and theatre performance enthral audience

The highlight of the evening was a series of cultural performances inspired by the works of Rabindranath Tagore. Residents presented Rabindra Sangeet, Rabindrik dance performances and poetry recitations that received enthusiastic applause from the audience.

An in-house theatrical performance of Tagore’s famous play “Dena Paona” also drew attention. The play was translated into Hindi by Dr. Avijeet Banerjee, making it more accessible to a wider audience present at the gathering.

Organisers said the participation and dedication shown by the residents made the event memorable, with every performance reflecting careful preparation and passion for art and culture.

Bengali food stall adds traditional flavour

Adding to the festive spirit, a Bengali food stall served traditional sweets and snacks, giving residents an authentic cultural experience. Families and children enjoyed the lively atmosphere throughout the evening.

The programme concluded with the singing of the national anthem, bringing the celebration to a patriotic and emotional close.
