CAN-A-THON 1.0 marks a historic first as cancer warriors take the lead, turning survival into strength and inspiring a community to run with hope on World Health Day.

Noida : On April 5, 2026, marking World Health Day, a powerful and deeply inspiring initiative unfolded in Greater Noida West. For the first time in India, a run dedicated exclusively to cancer warriors, CAN-A-THON 1.0 RUN, was organised, redefining resilience, hope and the meaning of survival.

Organised by Manisha Brighter Group and Ek Pahal Jagrukta Ki Ore, the event aimed to spread awareness about cancer while motivating warriors to reclaim their strength and confidence. The core message was simple yet powerful, life does not stop after cancer, it evolves into something stronger.

Held at Fitness Hub, Plot 30, Tech Zone 4, the run began at 6 am with an atmosphere charged with emotion and positivity. Around 500 participants took part, including nearly 100 to 150 cancer warriors. Some walked, some ran, but every step symbolised courage and determination.

The event also saw active participation from caregivers, doctors and fitness enthusiasts, who joined the warriors in solidarity. Their presence reinforced a crucial message, no one fights cancer alone.

ACP Greater Noida Pawan Kumar attended as the chief guest and felicitated the top three finishers in each category. However, every cancer warrior was honoured with medals, recognising their journey and strength.

Support from community groups added to the event’s success. Cyclists from Noida Cycling Runner and Swag Group acted as marshals and ensured hydration support throughout the route. Among them was 74-year-old cyclist R. S. Uppal, whose presence inspired many.

“Age is never a barrier when the purpose is meaningful. Seeing these warriors run with such determination is deeply humbling. They are the real champions.

At the heart of the initiative is Manisha Kumar, a cancer warrior herself, whose vision brought CAN-A-THON 1.0 to life alongside Dr Rashi Aggarwal.

“This run is not just about fitness; it is about reclaiming life after cancer. Every warrior here has fought a battle that many cannot imagine. Today, they are not just survivors, they are symbols of hope.

“Events like CAN-A-THON 1.0 highlight that recovery is not just medical, it is physical and emotional. Regular movement, even in small steps, plays a critical role in rebuilding strength after cancer. These warriors are setting a powerful example of resilience for society.”

Dr Ravinder Singh, Orthopedic Surgeon & Director, Atlanta Hospital, Vasundhara

“Healing after cancer goes beyond treatment. It is about mindset, lifestyle and community support. Seeing survivors come together for a run like this reinforces the importance of staying active, positive and connected. This is how long-term recovery is sustained.”

Dr Neetu Singh, Family Physician & Health Coach

Behind every smile at the event was a story of struggle, pain and perseverance. Yet what stood out was the positivity and unbreakable spirit of the participants.

CAN-A-THON 1.0 was not just a run; it was a movement. A statement that cancer does not define a person’s limits. Instead, it can become a turning point toward strength and renewal.

To every cancer warrior : your journey is your hero story. And today, that story inspired an entire community.

“Believe you can, and you are already halfway there.”
