Greater Noida West: A resident of Royal Nest Society has alleged that a packet of branded desi ghee ordered through Instamart was delivered in a damaged condition and emitted a strong foul smell after the container was opened.

The incident has raised concerns over quality checks for grocery and food products sold through quick-commerce platforms.

According to the resident, the desi ghee was ordered through Instamart as part of a routine grocery purchase. While the delivery was received on time, the problem became apparent when the package was opened.

The resident alleges that both the outer packaging and the ghee container were damaged and in poor condition. After opening the seal, the resident reportedly noticed a strong unpleasant smell coming from the product.

The resident immediately took photographs and videos of the damaged packaging and the product and raised a complaint with customer support, seeking a refund and appropriate action.

Questions Raised Over Quality Checks

The incident has prompted questions among residents about the quality-control process followed for food and grocery products delivered through quick-commerce platforms.

Residents are questioning whether products are adequately checked for packaging damage, expiry dates, storage conditions and product quality before being delivered to customers.

The incident has also reportedly sparked discussion among residents of Royal Nest and nearby societies, many of whom rely on online grocery delivery services for daily essentials.

Resident Seeks Refund And Action

The affected resident has sought a refund and action on the complaint, while also urging consumers to carefully check the packaging, seal, expiry date and condition of food products immediately after delivery.

The allegations regarding the condition and quality of the product remain those of the consumer. The exact cause of the foul smell and how the damaged product reached the customer would require verification by the company and relevant authorities.

The incident once again highlights the importance of robust quality checks and proper storage and handling of food products across the quick-commerce supply chain.
