Noida: The festive season has started. Holi festival is a confluence of happiness and delicious dishes, but during the festivals, adulterators also become active. Especially in dairy products like ghee and mawa, heavy adulteration is seen. As soon as the demand for ghee and mawa starts increasing, these adulterators start increasing their business. Recently more than 10,000 liters of fake ghee were recovered in Noida, this shows how much-adulterated goods are there in the markets. Consumption of fake ghee is very dangerous to health and can cause stomach problems and serious diseases. Differentiating between real and fake ghee is a bit difficult but not impossible.

With the help of some easy home remedies, you can know the purity of ghee and can also save yourself from getting caught in the trap of adulteration. So if you also want to avoid getting caught in the trap of adulterated ghee on Holi, then definitely adopt these easy methods.

Fake ghee – real ghee looks the same

Adulterers make fake ghee so cleverly that it looks and smells exactly like the real one. Flavours and essence are added to it so that its smell also looks like real ghee. This is the reason why people are not able to identify it easily and get cheated. But there is no need to worry because with some easy tests you can identify real and fake ghee yourself.

Identify by hand

Take a little ghee on your palm and rub it. If the ghee melts easily and starts giving fragrance, then the ghee is real. Fake ghee takes time to melt and starts smelling strange.

Iodine test

Add 2-3 drops of iodine tincture in a spoonful of ghee. If starch has been mixed in ghee, then its colour will start turning blue. However, there will be no change in real ghee.

Try putting ghee in lukewarm water

Put a little ghee in a glass of lukewarm water. Real ghee will remain on top of the water and form a layer, while fake ghee will dissolve immediately and settle down.

Heating also helps in identification

Heat a spoonful of ghee. If it melts immediately and turns golden and smells good, then it is real ghee. On the other hand, fake ghee forms foam and may smell mild.

Do not compromise with health

Consumption of fake ghee can cause stomach diseases as well as heart diseases. Therefore, be careful while buying ghee from the market and buy ghee from branded and certified companies only. Also, if you doubt the quality of ghee, then definitely check its purity with these home remedies.
