Greater Noida West: A major safety concern surfaced on Monday, May 18, 2026 at Amrapali Golf Homes and Kingswood Society after multiple lift malfunctions were reported across different towers on the same day. The repeated incidents created panic and fear among residents across the societies.

The milk vendor was trapped for nearly 30 minutes

According to residents, a milk vendor who had entered the society for deliveries got trapped inside a lift in the J Cluster for nearly half an hour. A similar incident was also reported in C Block, where several people were stuck in a lift for about 20 to 30 minutes. The back-to-back incidents have once again raised serious concerns over lift safety and emergency response systems in society.

A 76-year-old resident suffers from health distress inside lift

The most serious incident was reported from D-1 Tower, where a 76-year-old elderly resident remained trapped inside a lift for nearly 30 minutes. Due to the intense heat and lack of ventilation inside the closed lift, the elderly man’s condition reportedly deteriorated during the ordeal.

The resident kept calling for help, but effective assistance did not arrive for a considerable amount of time.

Eyewitness Resident
Questions raised over untrained emergency staff

Residents alleged that the seriousness of the situation became more evident when security guards and lift operators who arrived at the spot were unable to open the lift door due to a lack of proper training. After a significant delay and repeated efforts, the elderly resident was eventually rescued after nearly 30 minutes.

Residents allege poor maintenance despite heavy charges

Residents claimed that the society has around 126 lifts and incidents of lift breakdowns and people getting trapped occur frequently. Despite collecting substantial maintenance charges every month, the ad-hoc AOA has allegedly failed to ensure proper maintenance and safety checks of the lifts.

Thousands of families are being exposed to serious safety risks and warned that a major accident could occur if immediate corrective measures are not taken.

Residents
Demand for high-level investigation

Residents have demanded a high-level inquiry into the repeated lift failures and strict action against those responsible for negligence. They have also urged authorities to ensure immediate technical inspection of all lifts, regular maintenance and deployment of properly trained emergency staff to prevent such potentially life-threatening incidents in the future.
