Greater Noida: It is a proud moment for Galgotia University to be one of only 13 institutions nationwide selected to host the Hardware Edition of the prestigious Smart India Hackathon 2024 (SIH).

What is the Smart India Hackathon

Smart India Hackathon is a national innovation initiative that aims to solve real problems by harnessing the creativity of students. It bridges the gap between academic knowledge and practical applications and promotes research, innovation and critical thinking among youth.

This flagship event, powered by the Innovation Cell of the Ministry of Education, AICTE, SBI Foundation, and I4C, underlines the University’s commitment to foster innovation and empower young talent to find solutions to national challenges.

The five-day event will involve 40 teams comprising around 300 students from 9 states

Galgotia University is among 13 selected university

Professor K., Vice Chancellor, Galgotias University. Mallikarjuna Babu said, “Out of the 51 institutions selected to host the SIH-2024 editions across India, only 13 have been selected for the hardware edition. Galgotias University’s inclusion in this list reaffirms our leadership in academic excellence and innovation.”

‘Outstanding experience for participants’ and mentors’

Sharing the University’s experience of hosting previous SIH editions, Professor Awadhesh Kumar, Pro-Vice Chancellor, said, “Our excellence in organising both hardware and software editions has enabled us to deliver an outstanding experience for the participants and mentors.”

‘a world-class experience will be provided’

Outlining the extensive arrangements for the event, University Registrar Nitin Gaur said, “We have ensured that all preparations, such as transportation, accommodation and event management, are completely on point to provide a world-class experience.”

Galgotias University students are also playing a vital role in the success of the event

Speaking about the extensive planning and coordination behind the event, Professor Meenakshi Sharma, Director, IQAC and Nodal Centre Head, says, “We have formed 15 dedicated committees, comprising 105 faculty members and 300 student volunteers. These committees are working to ensure the smooth conduct of all the operations. These include responsibilities such as BOM and venue management, registration, branding, document assistance, media, fab lab, accommodation, IT support, jury and evaluation, sports and yoga, health, food, maintenance and social media.

Dr. Gaurav Kumar, Core Committee Incharge, informed, “More than 300 student volunteers from organisations such as Bio-Innovators Guilds for Sustainability (BIGS), Student Council, NSS, NCC and Sports Council will assist the teams so that every participant gets complete support.”

Galgotias University’s role as the host for Smart India Hackathon-2024 not only reflects its dedication to academic and technological excellence but is also a testimony to its leadership in promoting collaboration, creativity and innovation across various sectors.
