Ghaziabad: Bhartiya Dharohar Sanstha has organized Bhagwat Katha, which started with pomp and gaiety, with aarti and bhajans. Katha Vyas Nandan gave a soulful description of Lord Krishna’s Bal Leelas and Raas, in which important events like Putana slaying, Lord Krishna’s childhood pranks with Yashoda Mata, Love for the cows, Kaliya Nag’s pride mardana, butter theft, and the episode of gopis were mentioned.

Shri Krishna had to remain hungry for 7 days

During the Katha, Vyas Pawan Nandan shared the story behind the tradition of offering 56 bhogs to Lord Krishna. He told that we should also give time to God in our busy schedule and worship him. He also said that Lord Krishna had lifted Govardhan mountain to protect the people of Braj from the wrath of Indra Dev. As a result, he had to remain hungry for 7 days, after which he was fed 56 dishes. This tradition is known as ‘56 Bhog‘.

Importance of Govardhan Puja

Vyas Pawan Nandan further said that Lord Krishna broke the ego of Lord Indra stopped the worship of Indra in Gokul and inspired the Nandavasis to worship Govardhan. During this Bhagwat Katha, the hymns narrated enthralled the listeners. He says, “Bhagwat Katha shows the path of thought, detachment, knowledge and meeting Hari. Describing the glory of Kaliyug, he said that in this era, the welfare of living beings is possible only through Harinam.”

The organizing committee arranged fruits in the Katha Prasad today. Kapil Tyagi, Vijay Shankar Tiwari, Suchit Singhal, CP Baliyan, Sushil Kumar, Avinash Chandra, Swati Chauhan, Dheeraj Agarwal, Sanjay Singh, Ajay Shukla, Anil Mehndi Dutta and others were prominently present in this charitable work.
