Noida: Residents of Sector-78 have expressed concern over the presence of two BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) centres and one country liquor shop operating within a nearly 2-kilometre stretch between Sector-101 Metro Station and Hanuman Murti Chowk, Barola. People living in more than 10 nearby high-rise societies allege that the area witnesses traffic congestion, illegal parking and instances of public drinking during evening hours.
According to residents, vehicles often line up outside the liquor establishments, leading to bottlenecks on the main road. They also claim that people consume alcohol inside parked vehicles and gather around roadside eateries late into the night, creating inconvenience for families and commuters.
Locals have also raised concerns about the atmosphere around Vedvan Park, stating that the increasing crowd and reports of littering and anti-social activities are affecting the family-friendly environment of the area. Women residents have voiced concerns regarding safety and discomfort during late evening hours.
Residents have demanded a joint inspection by the district administration, police and excise department. They have sought a review of liquor licences in the area, stricter action against public drinking, drunk driving and illegal parking, and the establishment of a permanent police presence near Vedvan Park Chowk.
Residents’ Comment:
“This is not just a matter of traffic or noise. Thousands of families live here. Public safety, children’s environment and women’s security should be given priority,” said a resident of Sector-78.
Administration’s Response:
No official response from the district administration or excise department had been issued at the time of filing this report. Residents are now awaiting action on their concerns.
