Greater Noida West: Residents have raised concerns over safety and civic infrastructure on the road connecting Iteda Gol Chakkar to Shahberi near ATS Homekraft Nobility, where road widening work is currently underway. While the expansion is expected to ease traffic congestion, residents say an open drain running alongside the road continues to pose a serious risk to pedestrians.

According to residents, the ongoing development presents an opportunity for authorities to cover the drain and construct a dedicated pedestrian pathway above it. They believe such a move would not only improve safety for daily commuters but also enhance the overall appearance of the area.

“The road widening work is welcome, but pedestrians are still forced to walk close to an open drain. A covered drain with a proper footpath would make the stretch much safer, especially for children, senior citizens and women,” said a resident.

Residents have also highlighted the presence of several alleged illegal roadside dhabas along the stretch. They claim that some visitors consume alcohol openly in the area, creating nuisance and raising concerns about public safety and law and order.

The road serves as an important link between Greater Noida West and Shahberi and witnesses significant movement of residents, workers and school-going children. Citizens have urged the concerned authorities to consider integrating pedestrian-friendly infrastructure into the ongoing road improvement project.

Residents are now awaiting a response from the authorities and hope that the road widening project will be complemented with measures that prioritize both safety and urban aesthetics.
