Greater Noida: Residents’ welfare associations in Greater Noida have raised strong objections to the rising water bills in the city. The Federation of RWAs, Greater Noida, expressed concern over the increasing financial burden on residents and met with the Chief Executive Officer to press for immediate relief.
Delegation raises concerns over high charges
A seven-member delegation, led by former general secretary Deepak Kumar Bhati, met the CEO and formally lodged their protest against the continuous hike in water bills.
During the meeting, the delegation pointed out that water charges in Greater Noida have become significantly higher compared to nearby cities like Noida and Ghaziabad. They argued that this disparity is putting an unfair financial strain on residents.
They further highlighted that the repeated hikes are being implemented based on an earlier board decision, and demanded that such increases be stopped immediately.
Warning of Protest Against Authority
The Federation warned that if the hike in water bills is not rolled back, residents may be forced to launch a protest against the authority.
Taking note of the concerns, the CEO called in officials from the concerned department for a review and assured the delegation that no new increase in water bills would be implemented for now.
Demand for the one-time settlement scheme
The Federation also raised the issue of an ongoing dispute over the past two years, stating that many allottees have been unable to clear their dues due to inflated bills. As a result, interest continues to accumulate, worsening their financial situation.
To address this, they demanded the implementation of a One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme and cancellation of the previous order linked to the billing structure.
Assurance of action
The CEO responded positively to the demands and assured that necessary steps would be taken after reviewing the matter.
Support from MLA and Media
The Federation also thanked Dhirendra Singh and the media for their support in raising the issue.
Other members present during the meeting included Rishipal Singh, Alok Saadh, Pramod Bhati, Sudhir Chaudhary, Pankaj Nagar and Arun Batista.
