Noida: Acting on directives issued by the Chief Executive Officer, the Noida Authority conducted a detailed inspection drive on Friday targeting bulk waste generators and hospitality establishments. The inspection was led by Indu Prakash Singh, public health officer, along with Rahul Kumar, manager of health and solid waste management.

The team inspected M/s KIC Food Product Pvt. Ltd., a cloud kitchen operating in Sector 8. During the inspection, officials found several serious violations of bulk waste management norms, indicating a lack of adherence to prescribed environmental regulations.

Among the key irregularities observed were the non-functional status of the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and the failure to maintain essential systems such as the oil and grease trap and tube settler. Authorities also noted that a flow meter had not been installed, and sludge management practices were not in line with required standards. Additionally, no logbook was maintained to track operations and chemical dosing was found to be improper.

Despite falling under the category of bulk waste generator, the facility had not installed an Organic Waste Converter (OWC) plant. Officials also flagged improper segregation and storage of waste, which violates solid waste management rules.

A major concern raised during the inspection was the continued use of single-use plastic, which is completely banned in Noida. The team seized approximately 30 kilograms of plastic from the premises.

Considering the scale of violations, the Noida Authority imposed a financial penalty of ₹2,00,000 on the company. Officials also issued strict warnings, stating that failure to comply with waste management norms in the future would invite further punitive action as per regulations.

Following this, the inspection team visited a hotel in Sector 55 to assess the functioning of its Organic Waste Converter machine and Effluent Treatment Plant. Representatives from the environment cell, including Abdul Rehman and Priyanka, were present during the inspection. Suraj Singh, division head of a supporting organisation, along with members of an NGO, also participated in the process.

The Authority reiterated its commitment to enforcing environmental norms and ensuring that all bulk waste generators comply with waste management rules to maintain urban hygiene and sustainability.
