Greater Noida West: Anger is mounting among residents after the central government once again rejected the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the much-awaited metro extension to Greater Noida West. In response, NEFOWA organised a strong protest near Sector 71 crossing, close to the last metro pillar leading towards Noida Extension.
Hundreds of residents gathered at the site to voice their frustration over repeated delays. In a symbolic act of protest, demonstrators used a thick rope to “pull” the metro pillar towards Noida Extension, highlighting their long-pending demand for metro connectivity.
Residents expressed deep disappointment, stating that repeated rejection of the DPR has dashed the hopes of lakhs of people living in the region. They pointed out that despite rapid urbanisation, Greater Noida West continues to struggle with severe traffic congestion and a lack of reliable public transport.
Slogans were raised against both central and state authorities, urging them to prioritise the metro project without further delay.
For the past 10 years, we have only heard promises regarding metro connectivity, but there is no visible progress on the ground
Residents attending the protest
Residents of Greater Noida West are facing continuous injustice. Repeated rejection of the DPR is extremely unfortunate. The daily struggles of lakhs of people are being ignored. We demand immediate approval and commencement of the metro project.

The area is developing rapidly, but the absence of basic public transport is a serious concern. People’s lives are being impacted daily. The government must move beyond assurances and take concrete action.

Participants expressed gratitude to all those who joined the protest, stating that the unity, patience and commitment shown by residents reflect the strength of collective action. The demonstration was described as not just a protest, but a powerful representation of the aspirations, struggles and rights of lakhs of residents in Greater Noida West.
The organisers also thanked media professionals for amplifying their voice and bringing the issue to wider public and administrative attention. The message from the protest was clear: sustained unity and organised efforts will be key in ensuring that the long-pending metro demand is finally addressed.
