Greater Noida West : A major uproar broke out at the Greater Noida Authority office on Friday when residents of Mahagun Mywoods staged a protest against PGM Sandeep Chandra over the issue of stray dogs. Residents alleged that the officials behaved insensitively and rudely during the meeting, leading to strong resentment among the attendees.
The Greater Noida Authority had called the meeting following complaints from Mahagun Mywoods residents about the growing stray dog menace in the society. Apart from PGM Sandeep Chandra, representatives from SPCA and dog feeders were also present during the discussion. Residents raised concerns over the alleged arbitrary activities of certain dog feeders, feeding in common areas and the safety risks being faced by children and elderly people within the society premises.
During the meeting, an SPCA representative reportedly proposed a dedicated feeding time slot at 4 am for dog feeders. The proposal was strongly opposed by the residents, who argued that under the Society Act, no new construction or permanent arrangement can be introduced inside a housing society beyond the approved layout plan. Residents stated that if the authority attempts to forcibly create feeding points inside the society’s premises, it would be legally incorrect.
The protesting residents further alleged that the authority was acting under pressure from dog feeders instead of addressing the genuine concerns of residents. Following the meeting, angry residents staged a sit-in protest at the authority office and raised slogans against PGM Sandeep Chandra. They demanded a balanced and lawful solution to the stray dog issue in accordance with Supreme Court guidelines while ensuring the safety and security of residents.
