New Delhi: A delegation led by International Maithili Parishad President Shailendra Mishra met Union Minister for Food Processing Industries and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) National President Chirag Paswan at Panchsheel Bhavan in New Delhi.
During the meeting, Shailendra Mishra honoured the Union Minister with the traditional Mithila symbols of respect, including the Mithila Pag, Gamchha and the title of Mithila Ratna. The delegation also held detailed discussions on issues concerning people from Bihar, Mithilanchal and Purvanchal residing in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Shailendra Mishra informed the minister that an estimated 50 to 60 lakh people from Bihar, Mithilanchal and Purvanchal live in Noida, Delhi and other NCR regions. He expressed concern over incidents of discrimination and crimes targeting people from these regions and emphasised the need for stronger social and political representation to safeguard their interests.
The delegation urged Chirag Paswan to expand the organisational presence of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) across Noida, Delhi and the NCR. According to Mishra, a stronger political platform could help unite residents from Bihar, Mithilanchal and Purvanchal, address their concerns and ensure their safety and representation.
Responding to the concerns, Chirag Paswan assured the delegation that the issues raised would be taken seriously and that efforts would be made to address them in the near future.
The discussion also covered several development-related initiatives associated with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. Shailendra Mishra appreciated the government’s efforts in attracting large-scale investments and generating employment opportunities in the food processing sector, particularly in Bihar. He stressed that expanding such initiatives could help reduce migration by creating more jobs within the state.
The delegation also discussed the formation of the Makhana Board aimed at supporting Bihar’s makhana producers, who contribute a significant share of global production. The need for better pricing mechanisms, advanced technology and market access for farmers was highlighted during the meeting.
Other topics included the proposed establishment of the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) in Bihar and India’s representation at global platforms such as the World Economic Forum in Davos, where the minister has promoted investment opportunities in the food and beverage sector.
On behalf of the people of Bihar and Mithilanchal, Shailendra Mishra thanked the Union Minister for his contributions toward economic development and employment generation. Chirag Paswan reiterated his commitment to addressing the concerns of people from Bihar, Mithilanchal and Purvanchal residing in NCR and ensuring that their issues receive due attention.
The delegation included Shailendra Mishra, Divakar Jha, Deepak Mishra, Poonam Sinha, Prem Shankar Jha, Kishan Lal and several other members.
“Jai Mithila, Jai Bihar, Jai Purvanchal” was the message shared by members of the delegation at the conclusion of the meeting.
