Udai Bhan, the president of the Haryana Congress, is to run in the assembly elections from the Hodal constituency. In Ladwa, Congress candidate Mewa Singh will compete against BJP leader and chief minister of Haryana, Nayab Saini.

Kuldeep Vata has been nominated by the Congress for the Badli seat, and Geeta Bhukkal will run from Jhajjar (a seat reserved for the SC). The party’s representatives in Rewari will be Chiranjeev Rao, in Nuh, Aftab Ahmed, and in Faridabad NIT, Neeraj Sharma.

Along with Independent MLA Dharam Pal Gondar for Nilokheri, the Congress has put up Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) defector Ram Karan as their candidate for the Shahbad reserved constituency. The two leaders recently become members of the Congress.

The Central Election Committee (CEC) of the Congress met in Delhi before the list was made public. AICC Haryana chief executive Deepak Babaria, Hooda, General Secretary for Organizational Affairs K C Venugopal, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and former party leader Sonia Gandhi were among the prominent figures present at the meeting.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its list of 67 candidates earlier this week, including over 20 newcomers in addition to 21 incumbent lawmakers. The list is intended to contest the 2018 Assembly elections. The party chose to omit at least eight current MLAs in an attempt to counterbalance the strong anti-incumbency sentiment that had developed in Haryana following ten years of government.

October 5 is election day in Haryana, and October 8 is election day for the vote count. Nominations must be submitted by September 12 in order for them to be scrutinized on September 13. September 16 is the cutoff date for nomination withdrawals.
