Greater Noida: Important steps are being taken towards the operation of electric buses in the Greater Noida Authority area. After determining the route for a better transport system in the city, now the process of setting up charging points has been expedited. The authority has informed that more than 80 charging points will be set up. For this, a survey to mark the location has also been started.
The city will benefit from the establishment of charging points
After the selection of places to set up charging points is completed, a suitable company will be appointed to operate them. Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Authority will jointly operate these e-buses. The objective of the scheme is to strengthen the internal transport system, especially in Greater Noida and Greater Noida West. This process is being told to be in the final stage.
505 buses will be operated in the first phase
For the smooth operation of buses, charging points will be built in the major residential and industrial sectors of the city. Along with this, charging points will also be set up along the 130-meter-wide road. It is being ensured that there is no interruption when the e-bus service starts. According to the Greater Noida Authority, in the first phase of the scheme, 257 buses will operate in Noida, 196 in Greater Noida and 52 in Yamuna City area. 13 routes have been fixed in Noida area, 9 in Greater Noida and 2 in Yamuna City.
Millions of people will get benefit
Around 8-10 lakh residents of Greater Noida West and Greater Noida area will directly benefit from this e-bus service. The authority says that if there is space around the bus stop, charging points can also be installed there. The Urban Services Department is doing this work on a priority basis.
