Noida : A delegation of the DDRWA Federation, led by its President N.P. Singh met Abhay Kumar Mishra, DCP Traffic, Gautam Buddh Nagar, at the Sector 14 office to discuss the growing traffic challenges across the district. During the meeting, the federation submitted a detailed memorandum highlighting key traffic-related issues and recommendations received from RWAs and various organisations. The delegation congratulated the newly appointed DCP Traffic and expressed confidence that under his leadership, the district’s traffic management system would see significant improvements.

Residents seek long-term solutions to traffic congestion

Addressing the DCP, N.P. Singh said that the rapid increase in the number of vehicles has made traffic congestion one of the biggest challenges facing Gautam Buddh Nagar. He expressed hope that effective measures would be taken to improve commuting conditions for residents, traders and students. The federation also assured full cooperation with the traffic police and administration in promoting traffic discipline and ensuring smoother traffic flow.

Illegal parking near metro stations and markets highlighted

One of the major concerns raised during the meeting was the illegal parking of e-rickshaws and auto-rickshaws near key metro stations and commercial hubs, including Sector 18, Sector 51-52 Metro Station, Atta Market, Botanical Garden and Sector 62. According to the federation, unauthorised parking at these locations frequently leads to severe traffic jams and inconvenience for commuters.

Concerns over faulty road engineering and unplanned U-turns

The delegation emphasised that poor road engineering and unplanned U-turns are contributing significantly to accidents and congestion in Noida. The federation pointed out issues such as unauthorised cuts in road dividers, inadequate turning spaces, sudden lane changes and traffic bottlenecks caused by poorly designed U-turns. It urged authorities to redesign traffic infrastructure based on scientific road engineering principles and improve existing U-turns across the city. Members claimed that several U-turns in Noida are improperly designed and have become accident-prone spots, leading to frequent road crashes and loss of lives.

Demand for stronger traffic policing

The federation highlighted the shortage of traffic personnel in Noida and requested an increase in manpower deployment at major intersections and congestion points. Particular attention was drawn to traffic bottlenecks at Sector 37, Sector 57 crossing, Mahamaya Flyover, Noida Expressway entry points, Sector 52 U-turn and Spectrum Mall in Sector 75, where the absence of adequate traffic personnel often results in long queues during peak hours.

Action sought against traffic violations

The memorandum called for strict action against vehicles operating without number plates and urged authorities to intensify enforcement against violations such as:

  • Wrong-side driving
  • Jumping red lights
  • Over-speeding
  • Riding without helmets

The federation noted that these violations are major contributors to road accidents across the district.

Push for CCTV-based monitoring and e-challans

To compensate for limited manpower, the federation requested wider deployment of CCTV cameras and stronger implementation of the e-challan system across the city.

Members suggested installing surveillance cameras at major intersections to improve enforcement and deter traffic violations.

Metro station traffic and unauthorised stands were discussed

Several location-specific issues were also raised during the meeting, including:

  • Traffic congestion and illegal three-wheeler parking near Sector 52 Metro Station.
  • Wrong-side driving by auto-rickshaw drivers around the Sector 52 U-turn.
  • Unauthorised three-wheeler stands near the BDS Market in Sector 51.
  • Commercial e-rickshaws are using internal sector roads as shortcuts, causing inconvenience to residents.

The federation requested immediate intervention to address these concerns.

Banquet halls and roadside parking under scrutiny

The delegation also raised concerns about unauthorized banquet halls operating without adequate parking arrangements, particularly near Sector 51. It is alleged that visitors often park vehicles on public roads, creating traffic congestion and safety hazards. The federation urged authorities to take strict action against establishments that fail to provide designated parking facilities.

Safety concerns for women and children

Another issue discussed was the alleged misbehaviour by some auto drivers with women and children at metro stations. The federation requested the deployment of police personnel at key metro stations to enhance passenger safety and curb incidents of harassment and misconduct.

Federation urges prompt action

Concluding the meeting, the DDRWA Federation urged the Traffic Police Department to take immediate action on the issues outlined in the memorandum. The organisation reiterated its commitment to working closely with the traffic police and district administration to improve traffic management and road safety across Gautam Buddh Nagar.
