Noida: The Confederation of NCR Residents Welfare Associations (CONRWA), Noida Chapter, has written to the Chief Executive Officer of the Noida Authority, urging immediate action to address inadequate fire safety measures in paying guest (PG) accommodations, gyms, OYO properties and hotels operating across the city.
The representation, dated July 16, 2026, highlights growing concerns over recurring fire incidents and calls for stricter inspections and enforcement of fire safety regulations.
Recent Fire Tragedy Sparks Fresh Concern
The letter refers to a tragic fire that occurred on July 15, 2026, at a PG accommodation in Mamura village, where two people reportedly lost their lives. CONRWA said the incident underscores the urgent need for stronger safety standards and stricter monitoring of commercial establishments.
Narrow Lanes and Inadequate Safety Equipment
According to CONRWA, many PGs, gyms, OYO properties and hotels are operating in narrow lanes, making it difficult for fire engines to reach the site during emergencies. The organisation also pointed out that illegally parked vehicles on sector roads often obstruct emergency response vehicles, causing critical delays.
The association alleged that many such establishments either lack functional fire safety systems or do not have sufficient fire extinguishers and other essential firefighting equipment, increasing the risk of casualties during emergencies.
Concerns Over High-Rise Fire Preparedness
CONRWA also expressed concern over the city’s growing number of high-rise buildings. While multi-storey structures continue to be developed, the association claimed that the fire department does not have an adequate number of high-rise fire tenders capable of effectively responding to emergencies in taller buildings.
Demand for Comprehensive Safety Inspections
The residents’ body has urged the Noida Authority to conduct comprehensive inspections of all PGs, gyms, OYO properties and hotels to verify compliance with fire safety norms. It has also called for strict action against establishments found violating safety regulations.
Copies Sent to Senior Officials
To ensure prompt attention, copies of the representation have also been forwarded to the Police Commissioner, Gautam Buddh Nagar, and the Fire Department Commissioner, requesting coordinated action to improve public safety across Noida.
CONRWA President Dr P. S. Jain (Advocate) and Noida Chapter General Secretary Rajeev Garg expressed hope that the authorities would take immediate corrective measures to prevent future tragedies and strengthen fire safety standards throughout the city.
