CONRWA urges Noida Authority to ensure a permanent solution to the city's recurring waterlogging problem.
Noida : The Confederation of NCR Resident Welfare Associations (CONRWA) has written to the District Magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar, highlighting the poor condition of public facilities at petrol pumps across the district. The association has demanded immediate inspection and corrective action to improve basic amenities for customers visiting fuel stations.
Demand for better public amenities
In a representation submitted to the district administration, CONRWA President Dr. P.S. Jain stated that several petrol pumps are not maintaining essential public facilities such as clean drinking water, hygienic toilets, seating arrangements and proper air-filling services as per prescribed standards. According to the association, customers are facing regular inconvenience, especially women, senior citizens and children.
Basic public facilities at many petrol pumps in Gautam Budh Nagar are reportedly falling far below required standards.
CONRWA has urged the district administration to inspect fuel stations over issues related to unhygienic toilets, lack of clean drinking water, poor seating…
The letter mentioned that air-filling facilities at many petrol pumps either remain non-functional or are shut before the closing time of the petrol pumps. CONRWA has demanded that air services should remain operational throughout the working hours of the fuel stations so that vehicle owners do not face unnecessary difficulties.
Inadequate and unhygienic toilets
Raising concerns over sanitation conditions, the association stated that many petrol pumps with high customer footfall are operating with only one small common toilet for both men and women. The representation pointed out that several fuel stations have between four and twelve dispensing machines, catering to a large number of customers every day, yet the available washroom facilities are highly inadequate.
CONRWA alleged that due to heavy usage and poor maintenance, the toilets remain dirty and unhygienic for most of the day. The association further claimed that in some cases, foul-smelling gases from poorly maintained washrooms make them difficult to use. It has demanded that separate toilet facilities for men and women should be made mandatory, with at least two washrooms each at every petrol pump.
Allegations of violations in approved construction norms
The residents’ body also raised the issue of alleged violations in construction norms at petrol pump premises. According to the representation, many petrol pump operators have built covered areas beyond the approved limits provided by the development authority, leaving insufficient space for public convenience facilities within the premises.
Demand for district-wide inspection
CONRWA has urged the district administration to conduct a detailed survey and inspection of all petrol pumps in Gautam Budh Nagar to verify whether the facilities are being maintained according to oil company guidelines and approved standards. The association has also sought strict action against petrol pump operators found violating norms.
Considering the ongoing summer season and the increasing inconvenience faced by customers, CONRWA has requested the authorities to ensure immediate improvement in public amenities at petrol pumps across the district. A copy of the representation has also been forwarded to the Chief Executive Officer of the Noida Authority for necessary action.
Petrol pumps serve thousands of residents every day and maintaining proper public facilities is essential to ensure convenience, hygiene and a better experience for customers.
