Thugs first added her to this group, where free vouchers were offered, and then cheated her into investing in the stock market later.
The fraud started from the WhatsApp group
According to reports, Meenu Rani resident of Greater Noida was approached by Hari Singh through social media. Hari Singh, describing himself as an investment expert, included Meenu in a WhatsApp group. A few days later, another woman, Aarti Singh, approached Meenu and told her that Hari Singh had given an Amazon gift voucher of Rs 1,000 to every group member. In this way, Scammers won Meenu’s trust and prepared it for further fake investment.
Greed to earn profits on investment
Once Meenu’s trust was won, Hari Singh lured her to invest money, claiming more profits. Meenu, in this greed, first transferred Rs 50,000 to the account stated by scammers. Subsequently, the scammers asked her to download a mobile app, showing the woman’s investment and profits.
Thugs blocked her
Coming under the guise of scammers, Meenu, while earning all his hard earned money, transferred a total of Rs 51.5 lakh to his account. Later, Meenu’s relative warned her about the scam, after which Meenu tried to ask for his money back from the thugs, but the thugs blocked her.
Fraud disclosure
When Meenu tried to borrow more money from an acquaintance, he suspected and the acquaintance warned her that he could be a victim of some fraud. Meenu tried to ask for his money back from the thugs, but all the thugs broke the contact and the WhatsApp group was also deleted. Now she is completely in a financial crisis. Meenu has then lodged a complaint at the Greater Noida Cyber Crime Police Station.

This incident once again proves that online fraud is now implicating people on the web in new ways. In this case, too, the thugs first won the trust of Meenu by luring free Amazon vouchers and then blew lakhs of rupees through fake investment. The app that was used is likely a fishing app, which was made only to cheat people.
