Greater Noida West: A team from the Noida Forest Department visited La Residentia on Saturday following complaints and media reports about repeated owl attacks in the society.
Forest Department officials Ramavtar and Rahul met residents including Bijoy, Abhishek, Sumit, Vipul and Varun Sharma, who showed them the locations where the reported attacks had taken place. Society maintenance team head Yatin Malik was also present during the interaction.
During the inspection, a possible hiding spot of one of the owls was identified. However, officials said they would observe the situation for a few days and discuss the matter with senior officers before deciding on the next course of action.
The Forest Department has also directed the maintenance team to install additional bright lights around towers 4 and 5 as a precautionary measure.
Residents moving around tower 4 at night have been advised to keep their heads covered with a cap, hat or scarf.
A wildlife conservation volunteer, Ashish, is also expected to assist the Forest Department in safely capturing and relocating the owls to the Surajpur Wetlands. Officials are considering relocating the pair together to avoid separating them.
The Forest Department will assess the situation over the coming days before deciding on further action.
