Greater Noida West: Panic gripped residents of Gaur City 1st Avenue on Friday morning after a large portion of ceiling plaster suddenly fell inside a flat in the society. The incident took place while family members, including children, were present inside the house.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. However, the incident has once again raised concerns among residents over apartment safety, construction quality and maintenance standards in the society.

Large Portion of Ceiling Plaster Falls Suddenly

The incident occurred at flat D-157, located in the Bisrakh police station area of Greater Noida West.

Ashok Kumar, who lives in the flat with his family as a tenant, was not the only one affected by the incident. At around 10:30 am on Friday, his wife and children were inside the house when a large portion of plaster from the ceiling suddenly fell to the floor.

The plaster came down with a loud sound, leaving the family members frightened.

Following the incident, Ashok Kumar’s wife recorded a video of the affected area and shared it on social media. In the video, she reportedly pointed out that her child had been standing at the same spot shortly before the plaster fell.

She expressed concern that the child could have suffered serious injuries had they still been standing there when the plaster came down.

No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.

AOA President Confirms Incident

Gaur City 1st Avenue AOA President Sandeep Pathak also confirmed the incident.

He said that the ceiling plaster in flat D-157 fell at around 10:30 am. He also confirmed that no person was injured as no one was under the portion of the ceiling when it collapsed.

Residents Raise Concerns Over Repeated Plaster Falls

The incident has also increased concerns among other residents of the society.

Residents claim that this is not the first instance of plaster falling in the society. According to them, incidents involving plaster falling from different locations have reportedly occurred from time to time.

Residents have questioned how such incidents can continue in residential buildings where families have invested significant amounts of money in their homes.

They argue that the safety of residents should be the foremost priority and that repeated incidents of plaster falling warrant a closer assessment of construction quality and maintenance arrangements.

However, there is currently no confirmed technical assessment available establishing the exact reason for the plaster falling in this particular incident.

No Injury, But Safety Concerns Remain

While the incident ended without any injuries, the fact that ceiling debris fell inside a home where children were present has caused serious concern among families living in the society.

Residents are now seeking greater attention to the condition of ceilings and common structural and maintenance issues to prevent a potentially serious accident in the future.

The incident has once again highlighted the importance of timely inspection, preventive maintenance and prompt action wherever signs of deterioration are noticed in residential buildings.
