Greater Noida West: Residents of Gaur City–2’s 14th Avenue society in Greater Noida West continued their protest against the builder management for the second consecutive day on Sunday. As a mark of peaceful resistance, residents organised a recitation of the Sunderkand within the society premises to express their dissatisfaction over the alleged neglect of basic amenities.

Maintenance hike sparks discontent

According to the residents, the builder management has proposed an increase in maintenance charges effective January 1, despite several unresolved civic and safety issues within the society.

We are being asked to pay higher maintenance, but the basic facilities promised to us are still missing. This is completely unfair.

Thousands of families affected

The society comprises 20 towers with nearly 4,800 flats, housing over 3,500 families. Residents allege that instead of improving services in such a large residential complex, the management is steadily cutting back on facilities.

Managing a society of this size requires responsibility. Unfortunately, the builder is reducing services instead of strengthening them.

Concerns over parking, Safety and fire systems

Residents have highlighted multiple issues, including inadequate parking spaces, non-functional fire safety sprinklers, poorly maintained parks and a lack of proper security arrangements.

Our safety is at risk. Fire sprinklers are not working, security is weak and parks are neglected. Despite all this, maintenance charges are being increased.

Protest ongoing since Saturday

The protest began on Saturday when residents set up a tent inside the society premises and staged a demonstration against the builder management. On Sunday, the recitation of the Sunderkand was organised at the protest site as a symbolic and peaceful way to register their opposition.

Residents inited in opposition

Residents said the protest is peaceful but determined. They have demanded that the builder management first restore and improve basic amenities before implementing any hike in maintenance charges, warning that the agitation will continue if their concerns are not addressed.
