Noida/Gautam Buddh Nagar: Residents of Noida, Greater Noida, Greater Noida West and the Yamuna Authority areas have raised serious concerns over the lack of proper public transport in the district, home to nearly 50–60 lakh people.
For years, locals have been dependent on private transport options such as three-wheelers and e-rickshaws. While these modes offer mobility, they have led to worsening traffic congestion, especially during festival seasons. Moreover, reports indicate an increase in criminal incidents, including harassment, petty thefts and fights, largely attributed to unverified private transport operators who often form gangs and occupy metro stations and market areas with their informal stands.
The DD RW Federation, representing most RWAs in Gautam Buddh Nagar, has repeatedly requested Noida and Greater Noida authorities to introduce electric buses to improve public transport. Authorities have promised action in the past but little progress has been made.
Residents stress that proper electric bus services could significantly reduce dependence on private vehicles, ease traffic congestion and improve safety across the district. They have urged Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna Development Authorities to prioritize electric buses for key areas, including Noida International Airport.
With growing frustration among the public, officials are being called upon to act swiftly and ensure safe, reliable, and environmentally friendly public transport for the district’s citizens.
