Noida: The persistent problem of waterlogging at the underpass near Paramount Golf Forest on the 130-metre-wide road in Noida is set to be resolved within the next six months. The Noida Authority has initiated a drainage construction project worth ₹15.31 crore to address the issue.

As part of the plan, a new drainage line is being constructed to channel rainwater and surface runoff from the underpass and surrounding areas directly into the main stormwater drain near Makora roundabout. The drain will span approximately 5 kilometres and will include footpaths on both sides for pedestrian access.

The underpass in question was developed by the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation (DFCC), which also constructed two other underpasses and is currently working on a flyover on the same stretch. However, the underpasses were opened to vehicular traffic without a proper water drainage system. Although temporary motor pumps were installed to remove accumulated water, the extracted water often flowed back into the underpass due to a lack of external drainage infrastructure.

The new initiative by the Noida Authority aims to provide a permanent solution to this recurring issue. Officials confirmed that the drainage channels on both sides of the road will ensure efficient water flow into the main drain, preventing future waterlogging during the monsoon season.

The construction work has already commenced, and the authority expects the project to be completed within six months.
