
Noida: Members of the JVCC Laughter Club celebrated its 9th Annual Day with great enthusiasm under the leadership of Commodore Ashok Sawhney, (Retired), founder of the club, which has more than a hundred members today.

The aim was to showcase Laughter Yoga, which is extremely beneficial in being healthy and happy.
The programme started with 30 30-minute Laughter Yoga sessions, which included the four basic steps of clapping or acupressure, deep breathing exercises, childlike playfulness and group laughter exercises. Thereafter, everyone present danced joyfully to the Bollywood Laughter Yoga dance, conceived by Dr Madan Katariya, and to the Gratitude song.

The choir group of Laughter Yoga entertained the gathering with a Songs cum Laughter medley comprising Bollywood, Punjabi and Patriotic songs. This was followed by dancing merrily to some foot-tapping music of popular songs.
The event was graced by Dr Santosh Sahi, Founder of the Delhi Academy of Laughter Yoga, Dr Kanika Sharma Sood, Director, Dharamshila Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, New Delhi, Commodore Ravinder Nath (Retired), President Jalvayu Vihar Community Centre and Colonel Lalchandani (Retired), Chairman of Jalvayu Vihar Sehkari Awas Samiti.
About 250 participants enjoyed the proceedings including more than 90 first timers. They were motivated to laugh regularly for good health and happiness.

Neha Sharma, Laughter Yogi says, “I joined Laughter Yoga on 10th May. Six months ago, when I got my total cholesterol tested, it was 249. Six months after joining Laughter Yoga, when I got my total cholesterol test done again, it came out less than 200 without any medicine. This miracle happened because of Laughter Yoga. I come here regularly.”

Deepak, Laughter Yogi says, ” My wife joined the laughter club on 23rd May. On his request and seeing the benefit in them, I also joined on 9 October 23. Within a week I noticed a change within me. I feel light and very energetic. It’s all thanks to 30 minutes of comedy yoga and conversations with friends every day.”

Geeta Menon, Laughter Yogi says, “After joining Laughter Yoga Club, I felt that it is right for me to join. I have gone from being an introvert to an extrovert; I am enjoying being with others and my public speaking skills and confidence levels have improved. Now I am positive and happy, full of happiness.”
