Greater Noida West: Home services platform Snabbit has issued its first official response, specifically to Apartment Times, following allegations that one of its service professionals was assaulted by a resident at 11th Avenue, Gaur City 2, an incident that triggered protests by domestic workers and disrupted household services across several residential societies in Greater Noida West.

The alleged incident sparked outrage among domestic workers and app-based service providers, many of whom reportedly suspended work in solidarity with the affected worker. Protesters gathered outside the society and demanded strict action against the accused resident.

The controversy gained momentum after workers claimed that the incident highlighted broader concerns about the safety, dignity and treatment of domestic workers employed in residential societies through online platforms.

Snabbit issues official statement

In a statement shared with Apartment Times through its official PR partner, Snabbit expressed concern over the incident and said it had extended support to the affected worker.

“We are deeply concerned by the reported incident involving one of our Experts and our thoughts are with her and her family. The safety, dignity and well-being of our Experts is non-negotiable.” —Snabbit spokesperson

The company said it is in touch with authorities and is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

“We have extended immediate support to the Expert, are in touch with the relevant authorities, and are cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation. As a precautionary measure, the customer account associated with the booking has been restricted pending review.” — Snabbit spokesperson.

According to the company, the account linked to the booking has been temporarily restricted while the matter is reviewed.

Worker safety under spotlight

The incident has once again brought attention to the challenges faced by domestic workers and gig economy professionals who enter private homes as part of their daily work.

While thousands of such service interactions take place every day without issues, worker groups say stronger safeguards are needed to ensure the safety and dignity of service professionals.

Addressing these concerns, Snabbit reiterated its zero-tolerance approach toward abuse and misconduct.

“Any allegation of violence, abuse or misconduct is deeply concerning and completely inconsistent with the standards we expect from everyone who uses our platform.
