Given the rapidly increasing urbanization and expansion of multi-storey buildings, the Yogi government has implemented the Uttar Pradesh Lift and Escalator Act 2024 and Uttar Pradesh Lift and Escalator Rules 2024.
Registration has become necessary
According to the new rules implemented by the UP government, before installing lifts or escalators in all private and public buildings, it will be necessary to get registration done with the local Assistant Director of Electrical Safety. This rule will not only apply to new establishments, but registration is also necessary for existing lifts and escalators.
Appeal to ensure compliance asap
According to information received from the Information Department of Gautam Buddha Nagar, all Apartment Owners Associations (AOA) and Resident Welfare Associations (RWA) of the district have been appealed to ensure compliance with these rules as soon as possible.
Strict action will be taken on violation of rules
The District Magistrate has also warned that those who do not follow the rules will be fined up to Rs 10,000 and lift services will also be suspended after the grace period of 30 days. But, RWA and AOA members say that the administration did not give clear information about the registration process, which created confusion.
