Greater Noida West: The rich aroma of roasted spices, fragrant rice and freshly prepared South Indian delicacies is set to fill the air in Greater Noida West as Gaurs Sarovar Premiere hosts ‘Virundu by Chef Siva’, a limited-period culinary experience celebrating the diverse food traditions of Tamil Nadu.

Beginning August 28, 2026, the food festival is part of Sarovar Hotels’ Culinary Caravan initiative, which brings regional and hyperlocal Indian cuisines to diners through chef-led food festivals and specially curated menus.

Curated by Chef Siva, Virundu goes beyond the familiar South Indian favourites to explore the distinctive flavours of Kongunadu, Chettinad and traditional Tamil kitchens. The menu brings together regional ingredients, authentic recipes and traditional cooking techniques, offering diners an opportunity to experience the depth and variety of Tamil cuisine.

Among the most tempting offerings is the Kongu Mutton Biryani, prepared with aromatic Seeraga Samba rice that lends the dish its distinctive fragrance and texture. Another highlight, Pallipalayam Kozhi, combines tender chicken with shallots, native red chillies and coconut, creating a robust blend of heat, sweetness and nuttiness.

For those who enjoy richly spiced curries, the Chettinad-style Kozhi Varatha Curry brings together roasted coconut, black pepper and aromatic spices. The menu also features traditional preparations such as Thakkali Pappu, Thengai Sadam and Murungai Malli Chaaru.

The sweet and savoury selection adds another layer to the experience, with Beetroot Mundhiri Paniyaram offering an interesting take on a traditional preparation, while Elaneer Payasam brings the delicate sweetness and freshness of tender coconut to the dessert course.

A taste of Tamil Nadu beyond the familiar

The concept is designed for diners who want to discover the lesser-known culinary identities of Tamil Nadu rather than limiting South Indian cuisine to its most popular dishes.

Through Virundu, Chef Siva brings together flavours shaped by local ingredients, regional traditions and generations of cooking knowledge. Each preparation offers a glimpse into the food culture of different parts of Tamil Nadu, where spices, rice, coconut, lentils, vegetables and meat are transformed through distinct cooking methods.

Exceptional hospitality, personalised attention and a specially prepared selection of Tamil delicacies made the Apartment Times team’s Virundu experience truly delightful.

The experience forms part of Culinary Caravan, a Sarovar Hotels initiative focused on showcasing India’s regional food traditions through curated menus, chef-led experiences and culinary storytelling.

A spokesperson for Sarovar Hotels said the initiative aims to bring India’s diverse regional cuisines closer to guests while highlighting the connection between food, culture and tradition. With Virundu, the focus is particularly on presenting the lesser-known flavours and culinary traditions of Tamil Nadu.

A new culinary experience for Greater Noida

For food lovers in Greater Noida West and across Delhi-NCR, the festival offers an opportunity to explore authentic Tamil flavours without having to travel to South India.

With its fragrant biryanis, roasted spices, coconut-based preparations, fiery Chettinad flavours and traditional desserts, Virundu promises a culinary journey through Tamil Nadu served closer to home.

Virundu by Chef Siva is being hosted at Gaurs Sarovar Premiere Greater Noida from August 28, 2026, for a limited period.
