CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law University’s Indian Society for Universal Dialogue launched a platform, the “India@100” series aimed at encouraging law students to participate in debates centred around constitutional and contemporary issues.
Justice M Sundar of Madras high court and Supreme Court senior advocate Guru Krishnakumar along with vice chancellor Santhosh Kumar and faculty advisor Ranjit Oomen Abraham unveiled the logo of the project on Saturday.
“As a law student, opportunities for meaningful discussions were confined to the traditional academic routines of our time. However, I am thrilled to witness the remarkable transformation in legal education, which now offers students a range of resources for engagement,” Justice Sundar said, delivering a special address.
Moreover, ISUD’s India@100 series will provide space to gain holistic insights into complex issues, he added.
“This initiative seeks to transcend the boundaries of traditional legal education and foster an environment where young, legal minds can engage in spirited discussions on critical matters of national and international significance,” said ISUD president Aswin S.
According to the vice chancellor, the forum’s vision extends beyond academic learning, aiming to cultivate a community of socially conscious and politically aware legal scholars.
As India approaches its centenary year in 2047, the ISUD is set to kick start its “India@100 series.” In October, the forum will initiate discussions on the intersection of gender and law, shedding light on pertinent issues surrounding gender equality and justice. This will be followed by a discussion on the legal history of India. With its upcoming series ISUD is set to become a hub for intellectual discourse and an essential catalyst for change in the legal education community, Ranjit Oomen Abraham said.
