Noida: A fresh controversy has emerged from Supernova Shipra Towers in Sector 94, Noida, after residents reported that a group of foreign nationals was allegedly smoking what appeared to be cannabis near the swimming pool area of the residential complex.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred in a common area near the pool where several residents and families were present. A security guard reportedly approached the individuals and requested not to smoke in a public space within the society premises.

However, residents claim that the warning was ignored and the smoking continued despite the guard’s intervention.

The incident has sparked discussions among residents regarding the enforcement of society rules and the equal application of civic norms. Several residents expressed frustration, alleging that such behaviour would have attracted immediate criticism or action if carried out by local residents.

One resident, requesting anonymity, said, “Rules should be the same for everyone, irrespective of nationality. Public spaces inside residential societies must remain safe and comfortable for all residents, especially children and senior citizens.”

The matter has reignited concerns about maintaining discipline in common areas and the responsibilities of both residents and visitors within high-rise residential communities.

Residents are now urging the apartment management and security agencies to ensure that society bylaws are enforced uniformly and that any violation of public conduct norms is addressed promptly, regardless of who is involved.

While no official statement has yet been issued by the society management regarding the incident, residents say they expect stricter monitoring of common areas to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

Residents seek equal enforcement of rules

The episode has also triggered a broader conversation about civic responsibility and whether regulations are being applied consistently across different groups. Residents maintain that respect for community rules is essential for harmonious living and that all individuals should be held to the same standards of conduct within residential premises.
