Ghaziabad: A major food safety violation has come to light in the Khora area of Ghaziabad, where authorities uncovered pickle manufacturing units allegedly operating under unhygienic conditions. During a raid conducted by the Food Safety Department, officials found that pickles were being prepared using rotten carrots and spoiled lemons, raising serious concerns about public health and food safety.

According to officials, the inspection targeted two pickle manufacturing units operating in the area. During the raid, food safety teams discovered large quantities of decaying raw materials being used in the preparation of pickles intended for sale in the market.

The condition of the manufacturing facilities shocked inspectors. Rotten vegetables, foul-smelling ingredients and poor sanitation standards were reportedly found at the premises. Officials said the pickles being produced were unfit for human consumption and posed a potential health risk to consumers.

As part of the enforcement action, approximately 30 quintals of contaminated pickles were destroyed on the spot. Samples have also been collected for laboratory testing and further legal action is expected based on the findings of the investigation.

Food safety officials reiterated that strict action will be taken against businesses found compromising public health for profit. They urged consumers to remain vigilant and purchase food products only from trusted and licensed manufacturers.

The incident has once again highlighted concerns over the operation of unregulated food processing units in densely populated urban areas. Residents and consumer rights advocates have called for regular inspections and stricter monitoring to ensure that food products reaching households meet basic safety and hygiene standards.

Authorities are continuing their investigation and additional action may follow against those responsible for the violations.
