Noida: Residents of Block A in Sector 46, Noida, are facing severe sewer blockages, with the Residents Welfare Association (RWA) alleging that repeated complaints to the concerned officials have failed to yield a permanent solution.
In a complaint addressed to the General Manager (Water), Noida Authority, Sanjay Awana, General Secretary of the RWA, Sector 46, said that major sewer lines across Block A are severely choked, creating serious sanitation concerns for residents.
According to the complaint, the matter has been repeatedly brought to the notice of JE Ashok Kumar, with requests for inspection, desilting and cleaning of the sewer network. The RWA has also raised the issue with R.P. Singh, General Manager (Water). However, the association alleged that no effective action has been taken to date, and the problem persists.
The RWA said the blocked sewer lines could lead to sewage overflow and backflow, particularly during heavy water discharge or rainfall. Residents have also raised concerns over foul smell, unhygienic surroundings, mosquito breeding and the possibility of contamination.
Calling the situation a serious sanitation issue, the RWA has demanded immediate intervention by the Noida Authority. The association has requested officials to inspect the entire sewer network in Block A and carry out urgent desilting and cleaning of all affected lines.
The RWA has also sought a detailed investigation into the underlying causes behind the repeated blockages and demanded permanent corrective measures rather than temporary repairs.
Among its key demands, the association has asked the Authority to ensure that the sewer lines are properly flushed and restored to full working capacity. It has also sought accountability for the alleged delay in resolving the issue and requested a clear timeline for completion of the work.
“We have repeatedly approached the concerned officials regarding this basic sanitation issue. Residents should not have to continuously follow up for an essential civic service,” the complaint stated.
The RWA has warned that if the issue is not addressed promptly, it may escalate the matter before senior authorities and appropriate statutory and public grievance forums, along with records of its previous complaints.
The residents have urged the General Manager (Water) to personally intervene and ensure that the sewer blockage problem in Block A, Sector 46, is resolved on priority.
The Noida Authority’s response to the allegations was not immediately available.
