Greater Noida: Concerns over civic upkeep have resurfaced in the city as residents’ welfare associations step in to fill gaps left by the administration. In Sector Beta-1, office bearers of the RWA have taken it upon themselves to clean and maintain direction signboards, citing a lack of attention from the urban department of the Greater Noida Authority.
Despite repeated expectations from the authority to ensure basic maintenance, there has been little visible effort on the ground. As a result, RWA members have started cleaning signage boards themselves to improve visibility and maintain the sector’s appearance.

RWA general secretary Harendra Bhati said that keeping the city clean is a shared responsibility, but enforcement must come from the authorities. He emphasised that strict penalties should be imposed on those who contribute to littering and defacing public infrastructure. The city cannot be kept clean without accountability. Those who make the city dirty should face heavy fines.

Residents believe that while community participation is important, consistent support and action from the Greater Noida Authority’s urban department is essential to ensure long-term maintenance and civic discipline.
