Noida: Raising serious concerns over public safety and civic hygiene, RWA Sector 105 President Divya Krishnatreya has demanded strict action against irresponsible pet owners who allegedly allow dangerous dog breeds to roam in public spaces without proper safety measures and fail to clean up after their pets.
Krishnatreya said that while the Noida Authority, Noida Police Commissionerate and responsible citizens are working continuously to keep the city clean, safe and well-managed, a section of residents is openly violating civic norms and compromising public safety.
According to him, pet owners are frequently seen walking breeds such as Pit Bulls and German Shepherds in parks and residential areas without muzzles, creating fear among children, senior citizens and other residents.
He also alleged that some pet owners allow their dogs to defecate outside other residents’ homes and at entrance gates instead of cleaning up after them. He termed the practice irresponsible and said it poses a public health concern.
Krishnatreya further said that incidents of dog attacks on children and elderly people continue to be reported from different parts of the country. Despite this, some owners continue to ignore safety precautions while taking powerful breeds into public parks and crowded residential areas.
He also expressed concern over the feeding of stray dogs at multiple public locations, claiming it leads to the gathering of stray animals, creates unhygienic conditions and increases the risk of accidents due to slippery roads. He alleged that residents who object to such practices often face arguments and confrontations, disturbing social harmony in the locality.
Targeting irresponsible pet owners, Krishnatreya said, “Keep your ego and the mess created by your pets within your own premises. Public roads and the entrance of other people’s homes should not become places for irresponsible behaviour. No status symbol is above the law or public safety.”
RWA Places Key Demands Before Authorities
The RWA has urged the Noida Police Commissionerate to initiate criminal proceedings under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against pet owners who endanger public safety or disturb public order.
It has also appealed to the Noida Authority to impose stringent penalties on those violating pet ownership rules and to consider restricting the entry of dangerous dog breeds into public parks and narrow residential lanes.
The RWA has requested the administration to take prompt and effective measures in the larger public interest to ensure safer and cleaner public spaces for all residents.
