Greater Noida West: There is deep dissatisfaction and controversy over the elections of the executive committee of Panchsheel Hynish, Sector 1, Greater Noida West. For the last month, residents have been making serious allegations against the current executive of the society, including financial irregularities, arbitrary decisions, and corruption. Enlightened and aware citizens have lodged several complaints with the Deputy Registrar’s office regarding these issues, but no concrete action has been taken yet.

Amidst these controversies, the election committee was announced in a general body meeting (GBM) held a day before Holi and the date of voting was fixed as March 22, 2025. This hasty decision has caused great resentment among the residents. Citizens allege that the Deputy Registrar has deliberately remained inactive and has given a free hand to the current executive in violation of the rules.

On March 21, 2025, hundreds of residents protested at the District Magistrate’s office and demanded to meet the District Magistrate. In the absence of the District Magistrate, the residents met the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Atul Kumar and registered their grievances. When no clear solution was found, the angry residents staged a sit-in outside the ADM office. After this, the ADM himself spoke to the Deputy Registrar over the telephone and assured a proper solution.

The residents fear that a situation of chaos and violence may arise in the elections to be held on March 22. Recently, a delegation also met Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Diksha Singh regarding this concern. Despite this, no concrete steps have been taken so far.

The residents say that the validity of the current executive has expired and there are serious allegations of embezzlement of crores of rupees against them. It is alleged that in just one year of tenure, the officials have increased their properties and vehicles, for which a forensic audit has been demanded for a long time. But till now no cognizance has been taken on this, due to which the role of the Deputy Registrar is being considered suspicious.

The residents have demanded that—

  1. The elections proposed on March 22, 2-25 should be stopped with immediate effect. Because the GBM that is being talked about in forming this election committee has blatantly violated the rules of the AOA Act and Bylaws and the Deputy Registrar’s office is turning a blind eye to all the rules being violated.
  2. Under Section 25(2) of the Uttar Pradesh Society Registration Act-1860, the elections should be conducted impartially under the direct supervision of the Deputy Registrar.
  3. A forensic audit should be conducted in the society so that the truth of the financial irregularities can come out.

If proper action is not taken on these demands, the residents will be forced to protest on a large scale and the entire responsibility for this will be of the administration and the concerned officials.
