Greater Noida: The issue of open drains in Greater Noida has once again come under scrutiny, with residents accusing the Greater Noida Authority of failing to implement lasting solutions. Despite earlier patchwork efforts described as temporary “band-aid fixes,” locals claim that the problem remains unresolved, particularly in Division 5 near Sector Delta II.
The drains were previously superficially covered, but those measures have now deteriorated, leaving the drains exposed once again. As a result, the risk of accidents has increased significantly, with frequent reports of people falling into these open drains.

Complaints regarding the issue have been repeatedly raised with officials over the past several years, yet no concrete or permanent solution has been implemented. Authorities appear indifferent unless a major tragedy occurs.

Locals also referenced past incidents, warning that it should not take another fatal accident like that of a young resident, Yuvraj Mehta, to prompt action. They allege that the administration is waiting for a serious mishap before taking meaningful steps.
The situation has raised serious concerns about public safety and infrastructure maintenance in the area. Residents are now demanding immediate intervention, proper covering of drains, and accountability from the concerned departments to prevent further accidents.
As complaints continue to mount, all eyes are on the Greater Noida Authority to take swift and decisive action before the situation escalates further.
