In accordance with a Raj Bhavan directive, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi assigned portfolios to his council of ministers on Saturday while reserving control of the home, finance, and a number of other ministries for himself.
KV Singh Deo, the Deputy Chief Minister, assumed leadership of the departments of Agriculture, Farmers’ Empowerment, and Energy.
The department of Women and Child Development, Mission Shakti, and Tourism has been given to Pravati Parida, the other deputy chief minister. She is a rookie Member of Legislative and the only woman in the 16-member council of ministers.
The chief minister also oversees the following departments: planning and convergence, information and public relations, planning and water resources, general administration, and public grievances.
Revenue and Disaster Management were awarded to veteran BJP leader Suresh Pujari, while Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, and Drinking Water were given to farmer leader Rabi Narayan Naik.
According to the statement, tribal leader Nityananda Gond received support from the departments of social security, education for the masses, minority and underprivileged groups, ST&SC development, minority and backward class welfare, and disability empowerment.
