Greater Noida West: Cycling enthusiasts, fitness advocates and families are set to come together on June 14, 2026, as the Noida Cycling Association (NCA) hosts the Gautam Buddha Nagar chapter of the Asmita City Cycling League and World Bicycle Day Celebration. The event is being organised under the aegis of the Cycling Federation of India and the Government of India’s Khelo India initiative.
The cycling festival will take place on the Noida-Greater Noida Link Road near Ek Murti Chowk in Greater Noida West and is expected to attract more than 130 participants, including competitive cyclists, recreational riders, women athletes, children and fitness enthusiasts.
Women’s cycling race under Asmita City Cycling League
A major highlight of the event will be the Asmita City Cycling League, an exclusive competitive cycling race for women. The race will begin at 5:30 am and feature three categories:
- Sub-Junior (12–16 years) – 12.5 km
- Junior (16–18 years) – 12.5 km
- Elite (18+ years) – 22.5 km
All participants will report to Ek Murti Chowk at 5:00 am, where bib numbers will be distributed after age verification. Helmets will be mandatory and cyclists must bring their own bicycles.
The race has been designed to encourage women’s participation in competitive cycling while providing a professionally managed platform under national sports programmes.
Community ride to mark World Bicycle Day
Following the women’s race, a World Bicycle Day Celebration Ride will be flagged off between 6:30 am and 6:45 am. The 12.5-km community ride will be open to people of all ages and genders.
Families, amateur cyclists, and children under 12 years, accompanied by parents or guardians, are invited to participate in the non-competitive ride that promotes healthy living, sustainable transportation, and community engagement.
All participants will receive refreshments, goodies and participation certificates after completing the ride.
Special traffic and safety arrangements
To ensure the safety of riders, a rolling road closure will be implemented from 5:00 am to 8:00 am. Two of the three lanes on the Noida-Greater Noida Link Road will be reserved exclusively for cyclists, while one lane will remain open for vehicular traffic.
The organisers have requested police support for traffic management and have planned extensive safety measures, including:
- Mandatory helmets for all riders
- Ambulance deployment at Ek Murti Chowk
- First-aid facilities on site
- Volunteer marshals along the route
- Dedicated race monitoring and timing support
- Professional photography and videography coverage
Promoting Fitness and Sustainable Mobility
According to organisers, the event is part of a nationwide initiative being celebrated across hundreds of cities during June 2026 in conjunction with World Bicycle Day. The programme aims to promote cycling as a sport, encourage active lifestyles and advocate environmentally sustainable modes of transport.
The event will conclude with prize distribution, refreshments and community interactions at Ek Murti Chowk before normal traffic operations resume at 8:00 am.
The Noida Cycling Association has also invited volunteers and cycling enthusiasts to join the initiative and contribute towards making the event a success.
