Noida: With increasing incidents and confusion related to pet dogs in the city, Noida residents have urged the Noida Authority to ensure proper implementation and visibility of the city’s dog policy in all parks, public spaces, and residential societies.

Residents say that the majority of disputes involving pets are a result of a lack of awareness about the rules. They point out that the dog policy is not displayed anywhere, leaving both long-time residents and new arrivals uninformed.

A recent incident in a Noida park brought the issue to light when a woman’s daughter was seen letting dogs roam freely. When approached, the woman clarified that her family had only recently moved to Noida and was unaware of any specific dog-related rules. She expressed willingness to comply with all regulations but stressed that no boards or written instructions were available anywhere in the area.

Locals believe that installing proper signage can help reduce dog-related conflicts. They have demanded that the Noida Authority and the Horticulture Department install large, visible boards and hoardings across parks and public spaces, clearly outlining the dog policy.

Suggested rules that should be publicly displayed include:

  1. All pet dogs must be registered.
  2. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times in public areas.
  3. Dogs should wear a muzzle in public places for safety.
  4. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. Pet waste must be disposed of properly, and appropriate cleaning tools must be carried out at all times.

Residents have also reminded officials that similar requests were made earlier to the Horticulture Department for displaying dog policy boards in large parks, but no action was taken.

They now appeal to the Noida Authority to act urgently by installing dog policy boards and banners in all parks, public areas, and societies to promote awareness and ensure the safety of children, women, and senior citizens.
