Noida: Preparations for celebrations and parties have started in New Delhi NCR to the whole country for the new year. But this time firecrackers will not be burst in Delhi NCR on New Year eve 2025. Firecrackers will be banned throughout the year. In this regard, AK Singh, Principal Secretary, Department of Environment, Government of Delhi has issued an order. Under this, a ban has been imposed on the manufacture, storage, sale and burning of firecrackers in Delhi for the whole year with immediate effect.
The Delhi Government has said that if anyone does not follow this order, strict action will be taken against him. Therefore, no one will be allowed to burn firecrackers on Christmas and New Year. Given the increasing pollution, this order has been strictly implemented.
Now action will be taken on burning firecrackers
Violation of this order of the Delhi Government will be illegal under the Environment Protection Act 1986. Therefore, making, storing and selling firecrackers online or offline and burning firecrackers in Delhi will be a punishable offence. For this, the culprits can be punished.
Action will be taken against those who break the order
The Principal Environment Secretary has ordered the Delhi Police and the Revenue Department of the Delhi Government to ensure the implementation of the order and take action against those who do not follow it.
Pollution starts increasing in winter
The government order states that pollution is more between October and January in winter. Firecrackers play a big role in increasing pollution during festivals. Burning firecrackers increases pollutants in the environment. In view of this, there is a complete ban on firecrackers during festivals in Delhi from the year 2020.
No special benefit from the ban
This year also, an order was issued on October 14 to ban firecrackers till January 1. But the sellers store firecrackers in advance. For this reason, there is no special benefit from a short-term ban. Therefore, there is a need to ban it for the whole year.
The Supreme Court had asked the question
On November 4, the Supreme Court asked the Delhi government what steps were being taken for an effective ban on firecrackers next year. Regarding this, the Delhi government had told the Supreme Court that a plan has been prepared for a year-round ban on firecrackers in the national capital. A notification will be issued soon. After this, the Environment Department issued this order.
