NEW DELHI: Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University is all set to host a health mela as part of its Silver Jubilee Year Celebrations. The health mela will happen from October October 5 to 10 at Talakatora Stadium in Delhi.
The theme for this health mela is “One Step Towards Good Health.” Over a hundred government and non-government organizations connected to healthcare services, including all university-affiliated institutes, will be part of this event. They will offer various medical services for free, like eye tests, oral cancer screenings, blood tests, and more. Additionally, consultations for Homeopathy, Ayurveda, and Yoga will be available at no cost.
The health mela will also feature expert lectures, discussions, and debates on topics such as lifestyle-related diseases, mental health, elderly care, and blood and organ donation. There will be stalls promoting millets and other healthy lifestyle options.
Special training sessions in life-saving techniques like BLS, CPR, and first aid will be held, providing certifications to participants who complete the training.
For entertainment, daily events will include plays, music, dances, quizzes, debates, and activities for children. The best part is that admission to this fair is completely free.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Padamshree Prof. Dr. Mahesh Verma, emphasized the goal of spreading awareness about health among the people, especially in the wake of the pandemic, which has heightened health concerns among the public.
