Noida: IMS Law College in Sector 62, Noida, organised a two-day orientation programme for students at the beginning of the new academic session. The first day featured distinguished personalities from the legal and judicial fields who interacted with students and shared their professional experiences.
Former Director of the Delhi Judicial Academy Manmohan Sharma, Supreme Court advocate and legal expert Dr K.S. Bhati and Ranjan Kapoor addressed the students and highlighted the importance of continuous learning, discipline, ethical values and practical knowledge for building a successful career in law.
Former Allahabad High Court judge addresses students
Former Allahabad High Court judge Justice Shambhunath Srivastava attended the programme as the chief guest. Addressing the students, he said legal education is not merely preparation for a profession but an important means of establishing justice, equality and constitutional values in society.
He encouraged students to become responsible, sensitive and ethical legal professionals and emphasised the importance of understanding the wider social responsibilities associated with the legal profession.
Students urged to connect legal knowledge with society
IMS Noida vice president Chirag Gupta said that merely acquiring theoretical knowledge is not sufficient for law students.
He emphasised the need for students to understand society, justice and ethical values and incorporate them into their lives. He said a successful advocate or legal expert must be able to connect knowledge gained from books with real-world social problems and develop the ability to find practical solutions.
IMS adviser Professor Dr J.K. Sharma also encouraged students to look beyond career development. He said the true purpose of legal education is to protect justice, promote social equality and strengthen democratic values.
He urged students to develop sensitivity, ethical conduct, logical reasoning and a positive outlook so that they can contribute to making the justice system more effective in the future.
Two-day orientation to focus on legal education and career opportunities
IMS Law College head of department Dr Anjum Hasan said the two-day orientation programme would familiarise new students with various aspects of legal education and help them understand the academic environment and career opportunities available in the field.
Legal academics and experts will interact with students during the programme and provide guidance on career development, ethical values and personality development.
