Noida: Questions are being raised over the condition and accessibility of free public toilets built by the Noida Authority on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. Several commuters and daily travellers have alleged that locks have been placed on many of these public toilets, causing inconvenience to people travelling on the busy stretch.
“The authority must ensure proper maintenance instead of simply locking the facilities.”

“This reflects poor monitoring of public infrastructure on one of the busiest routes.”

Residents and commuters say that these toilets were constructed to provide relief and hygiene facilities to the public, especially during long journeys and peak traffic hours. However, the facilities are reportedly remaining locked for most of the time, defeating the very purpose for which they were built.
“Noida Authority should immediately investigate why these toilets are locked.”
Daily travellers expressed frustration and questioned the utility of spending public funds on infrastructure that remains inaccessible. Many commuters said that if the toilets had to remain locked, there was no point in constructing them in the first place.
“Authorities should deploy staff and keep these toilets operational at all times.”
People travelling through the expressway, including cab drivers, delivery personnel and office commuters, have demanded immediate intervention from the authority. They have urged officials to ensure that the toilets remain operational and properly maintained for public use.
“Public facilities should remain open for the public, not locked behind gates.”
Residents also pointed out that access to clean public toilets is an essential civic service and locking such facilities creates unnecessary hardship, especially for women, senior citizens and children travelling on the route.
“If taxpayers’ money was used to build these toilets, they must be accessible 24×7.”
Citizens are now demanding accountability from the concerned departments and are seeking a proper monitoring mechanism to ensure that public amenities remain functional and accessible at all times.
“Women, children and senior citizens suffer the most due to such negligence.”
