Kejriwal is granted bail by the Supreme Court
After hearing the case, a bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan awarded the Chief Minister bail in exchange for two sureties and a bail bond of Rs 10 lakh.
In addition to ordering Kejriwal to refrain from commenting publicly on the case’s merits, the Supreme Court granted bail and stated that the terms and conditions set down in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) case would also apply in this instance. The Delhi Secretariat and Kejriwal’s office are off limits to him, according to the court. He is also not allowed to sign any official documents unless he needs the Lieutenant Governor’s approval.
As part of an investigation into possible wrongdoing pertaining to the Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021–2022, Kejriwal was detained by the CBI on June 26. His arrest had been upheld by the Delhi High Court earlier, but he was freed pending the outcome of the Supreme Court’s decision today.
