Noida: People using PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, or similar UPIs are now being duped in a new way. Anyone can easily get trapped in this technique, which has been named the Jump Technique.
In this, the cyber thug sends you a small amount that you do not doubt, such as Rs 2000. You also get a text message or notification of its deposit. The thug sets up a system to withdraw the amount automatically through technology. As soon as you go to UPI to check the balance and enter your PIN, the amount gets transferred from your account to it.
The way to avoid this is to first deliberately enter the wrong PIN once to check on UPI whenever you get a payment without any expectation or from an unknown number. By doing this, the withdrawal amount set by the thug will be automatically cancelled.
