Greater Noida West: A newly constructed side service road near Casa Greens 1 has turned into a major waterlogging and sanitation nightmare following the recent rains. What was supposed to be a newly built road is now submerged under a large stretch of stagnant water, with residents alleging that sewage-like, foul-smelling water from the STPs of nearby societies has also mixed into the flooded stretch.

The situation has raised serious concerns over public health and the safety of school-going children who use the route every day.

According to residents, children are being forced to cross the dirty and foul-smelling water while going to and returning from school. In some places, they have to remove their shoes and walk through the water, while parents are left with no option but to carry their children in their arms to help them cross the flooded stretch.

The condition has also made daily commuting difficult for other residents and pedestrians.

Residents have questioned why a road that was constructed only recently has already become unusable after rainfall. They are demanding that the concerned authorities inspect the road, drainage system and the alleged discharge of STP water from nearby societies.

The recurring problem, residents say, cannot be addressed through temporary arrangements every time it rains. A permanent solution is needed, including proper drainage, prevention of sewage or STP discharge onto the road and corrective work on the road’s design and level, if required.

The most pressing concern remains the safety of children. Is it acceptable for school-going children to wade through dirty, foul-smelling water simply to reach their school?

Residents are urging the concerned authorities and society management to take immediate action and ensure that the stretch is made safe and usable on a permanent basis rather than relying on temporary measures after every spell of rain.
